I need your help. I am doing a leadership program in a few weeks for a relatively youthful audience and I want to include some music in the program that is relevant in content but also recognizable and hip. Any ideas out there? I need 30 minutes worth of music at a minimum. It can be rap, hip hop, alternative, r&b, rock, etc. No offensive lyrics please. Thanks you all.
Hopefully, music communicates a message in and of itself. In this case, I hope it just needs to reinforce the message coming from lecture, facilitation and video clips. Leadership can be learned in many different ways.

Hi, David. I just found your blog. I'm wondering what leadership songs you've come up with.
I've actually been thinking about songs for leaders myself in recent days. I'm a pastor so I tend to listen to music that inspires me to make a difference in the world.
I've mentioned a couple songs on my blog recently. One of them is "Something Changed" by Sara Groves (on the "The Ultimate Gift" movie soundtrack).
Anyway, I'd love to see what you came up with. Thanks!

India.arie has a few good songs, including "Growth" and "Strength, Courage & Wisdom." Mavis Staples sings "Eyes on the Prize", Neil Young has "Lookin' for a Leader, John Mayer sings "Waitin' for the World to Change". Randy Newman sings "Lonely at the Top". I like the Beach Boys song "Hang on to Your Ego. The Specials have "Keep on Learning", David Byrne sings "A Self-Made Man" and BTO has "Takin' Care of Business". My daughter also suggested songs by Van Halen and Sugarland. I'm sure there are many more.
